Please stop doing these 5 things if you care about mental wellness
Honestly, there are so many things that people do to spoil their mental health. And it is never too late to take care of your mental wellness. Here are 5 of the worst things that you could be doing all your life.
1. Living in the past
Not everyone’s blessed with only happy memories. There is so much more to life that you don’t appreciate enough. Forget about those memories that had let you down. Enough of the grieving period already! It’s about time to rise and shine, and never look back. Heartbreaks, failures, loss and mistakes happen but you should only be reminded of the path you chose to overcome them. And trust me, it is so easy when you just make up your mind and put a full stop to it. Yes, it is as simple as that. Move forward, make memories, and live with no regrets. It makes a HUGE difference.
2. Trying to be in everyone’s good books
Do you really have to please everyone just to be in their good books? Like, SERIOUSLY? It is impossible, and also very toxic to do things out of your comfort zone all the time. Also, they are not going to give a damn about it at the end of the day. Everybody’s going to have an opinion no matter what. So forget about pleasing your neighbour, boss – you name it, and focus on people who really matter the most to you. Remember, it is okay to be featured as a clown, villain, no-brainer, comedian, etc in random people’s book, especially when you’re not a big deal to them! Try to be the hero in your loved ones’ book.
3. Fearing people’s judgement
This is the worst thing that you can possibly do, to say the least. Fearing people’s judgement is like a no way out in a huge maze. You need to live a life that gives you happiness. Living a life means doing things you like, expressing your point of views with absolute freedom and that is of course without hurting others’ feelings. If you are bothered with people’s opinions, you are going to make a war with your mind! So start that youtube channel, pose that no-make up photo, start that new venture, or just simply be yourself, without a second thought!
4. Overthinking
This little twat is the root of all the problems! No kidding, overthinking is like a slow poison to your mental health. It leads to unnecessary doubts, fears, negativity and stress. If you are someone who cannot stop overthinking about little things, then you have to distract your mind by engaging in positive activities. Take life as it comes. Chuck the past and move forward without giving a burden to your brain. Keep it light and simple with no fuss like a breath of fresh air!
5. Doubting your self-worth
You are important, you matter! I can’t emphasise this enough. So what if you still haven’t achieved your goal or gotten over a breakup? Stop comparing yourself with others to validate your self-worth. Likewise, do not measure it with standards created by the society. Everyone is different and so are you. Also, who knows? You might be a dark horse! Those social media likes, awards, appraisals are not always true or fair. Be kind to yourself. Furthermore, believe in yourself and stay motivated. You are the rockstar of your own universe!
Take care of your mental wellness…
In a world today that is filled with negativity, it is important to take care of your mental health. And it is not something that can be done overnight. But taking slow steps at a time and making it a habit can help you. If you think you are not in a good place in life now, this too shall pass. Trust me. 🙂
