How to lift your mood in 7 quick ways
Let’s be honest, the world is very weird right now. With so much negativity going around, it is absolutely common to feel low and dejected from time to time. Following are some quick ways to lift your mood.
1. Spend time with your loved ones
There is nothing more powerful than spending time with your loved ones. You can go hug your parent, call your friend, FaceTime your partner – you name it, it is so healing. If you think you can spend the entire day with them without worrying too much about your time, then don’t hesitate! Please do not fix a time schedule! Remember, your loved one would also not mind giving you a company anytime.
2. Do something inspiring
Minimise your time on social media, and invest in something that inspires you. It could be photography, dancing, following a new diet plan, or anything! It is really eye-opening when you try to do something with all your heart and mind. Furthermore, it is so addictive as well. Whatever efforts you put in your activity/work should inspire you first. It will then automatically inspire people around you.
3. Offer help to people in need
When you try to spread positivity, you feel more positive too. Doing good to people does not necessarily mean only big things. Helping a friend in depression, a domestic help in financial crisis, or anyone for that matter, could make your day. Also, being a reason for someone’s good day/moment is the best thing you can do for your mind. It is even better if you help your loved ones before they ask for help.
4. Watch sunrise/sunset or both
It could be a cliched statement, but I can’t emphasise this enough! If you are an early riser, please watch the sunrise. It is okay if you are not a morning person, you can still go watch the sunset and it is as beautiful as the sunrise. You can even listen to your favourite song while you’re watching the nature at its best. Tell you what, it is the most underrated thing to do when you’re feeling low.
5. Pamper yourself
Buy that ice cream that you wanted to eat amidst your diet plan. Take that spa treatment at your favourite parlour. Do whatever that makes you happy even if it requires you to step out of your daily routine. After all, it is just for a day. Nothing is more important than your happiness and mental wellness. Stop worrying too much about fitting into that skinny jeans when there is a cool pair of trousers out there. Take a break, relax, and most importantly, live your life.
6. Love a little more
Everyone likes to be loved a little more and there is nothing wrong about it either. How about cooking a meal for your loved ones or doing anything extra to let them know they’re loved a little more? Love is so boundless and there is no endpoint to it. Hence, do not be shy to experiment with it. Be more generous with giving out love. It is not going to cost you anything unless you plan to do something really fancy!
7. Pep talk to yourself
Stay motivated. Believe. Do not lose your hope. It starts from waking up in the morning to going back to sleep at the end of the day. If you are fighting to get off the bed, just tell yourself “now or never.” If you are fighting your self-doubts and insecurities, remind yourself that “you are important, you matter.” These kind of small pep talks to yourself will help you to keep your mind positive no matter what.
Bottom line…
Remember, there is nothing impossible in the world. Break the barriers that are only built by your mind. Let go of the peer pressure from your head and focus on brighter life ahead. It is never too late. 🙂
