What is a dark horse?

It is a privately owned racehorse that has publicly never been placed and raced before the actual targetted race. The trainers who possess dark horses hit the racecourses for the secret training sessions in the night time. Hence, they are referred to as dark. The dark horses are usually unknown, unregistered, never been heard before and illegally raised with no proper “pedigree papers” but are super talented! They are unveiled by the trainers only during the race time and are used as trump cards to win.

The latter definition could come across as an illegal thing. But in real life, it is not! For example, you might have been THAT shy kid in your high school who is not considered to be a good competitor at poetry and oratorical competitions by your fellow classmates. And all of a sudden, you are applauded by the principal for your phenomenal public speech at graduation ceremony.

You are a dark horse when you believe you can do something great but not sure of exhibiting it to the world due to various reasons. It could be your social anxiety, shyness, self-doubt, or any personal reasons for that matter of fact. You are unknowingly waiting for the perfect time to reach for the sky, stars and success!

You could be the one who is full of secret talents or favourable characteristics that are unknown and least expected by your friends and acquaintances. So go, get them! There could be a new dark horse in the town!
